2020 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet facelift officially teased
The front end in particular is much more dynamic, with flatter headlights featuring full-LED technology and a diamond grille as standard.” A lower placed grille in the vein of the Panamericana theme (used on the latest A-Class, CLS and AMG models), paired with flatter headlights should give the cars a sportier appearance. At the rear, the changes are expected to be very small and the news is undoubtedly limited to a different layout of the rear light units made up from two parts – just like the A-Class in both its five-and four-door guises.
The makeover also targets the interior, as the E-Class Coupe/Cabriolet is set to get the new MBUX infotainment system based on artificial intelligence. The system is directly linked to two 10.25-inch displays (standard, optional 12.3-inch), one located directly behind the wheel and is able to indicate traffic lights, reads traffic signs and can also detect house numbers.
Mercedes-Benz says that the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet facelift will be more powerful and efficient than ever before thanks to the new, electrified engines with EQ Boost. The new edition of the E 53 4MATIC+ Coupé from Affalterbach is powered by a 3.0-litre engine which delivers 320 kW (435 hp) thanks to double charging via exhaust gas turbocharger and electric auxiliary compressor. The maximum torque is 520 Newton metres. Its EQ Boost starter generator provides an additional 16 kW of power for a short time as well as 250 Newton metres of torque and feeds the 48-volt vehicle electrical system.
The rejuvenated 2020 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet should reach the showrooms this autumn.
