Broken cord on soft top

Hi! Been a while since I posted.

For a little while now I’ve noticed my soft top on my 2019 E460 Cab makes more noise than it used to when opening or closing.

Yesterday I noticed a single elastic cord dangling behind the driver rear window.

I’ve heard there is a service bulletin for defective roof cords in 2018-2019 Cabs.

I’ve got a service scheduled but I can’t get it in until oct 21 because they don’t have enough loaner cars (I think they’re selling them off so they have SOMETHING to sell).

of course this happens right when great “top down” weather is here. Is it safe to keep opening and closing the top until this cord thing is fixed? I just don’t want to end up with the darn thing stuck in the open (or worse-halfway) position

Just went through that same dilemma three weeks ago; cord separated, hanging down behind drivers seat; dealer had the car for five days and did a new headliner and cords. I will share that after I saw the hanging cord, I did not lower the top again as I had the same concerns about the raising / lowering / freezing of the top. It's fixed now, so back to normal top operation and enjoying the end of summer / beginning of fall, perfect convertible weather!

Same issue

I’ve had exactly the same issue. Going next week for new cords and a new roof liner. 2 years old.
