Could I just check with anyone that knows this stuff what my expectations are of a few features in my E400d should be...

1. Should I be able to store Eco engine mode and have the car default to that selection on start up? or do MB actually provide two user interfaces to select one option (i.e Selection switch to left of centre arm rest and the Menu options buried in the Dashboard display.
2. AdBlue. I was told by MB sales person that this is a service interval thing but I'm getting nag messages every 3k miles.
3. Setting the connection priority for Bluetooth connected phones. I have 3 phones listed as being able to pair. Two of them I keep assigning the 1st and 2nd call connection preference and to play music over Bluetooth. But the car randomly it appears to change which phone is assigned as number 1. Anyone else see this bug? or does this feature do something I'm unaware of by selecting which device is 1st and which is 2nd?
4. Automatic volume adjustment. I think I might have established what this is actually referring too. Am I right in thinking this just attempts to normalise the volume between tracks? And nothing at all to do with automatically raising the volume according to external noise, like popping the roof open? or maintaining the volume difference between music and navigation volumes? If it's not the latter then MB really missed a trick here!
5. Bizarre navigation route options. It doesn't appear to matter what I select as the route options the actual route it selects is no where near as good as Google Maps! In fact I only use Android Auto now as my Maps preference and likewise for music (see item 6).
6. Odd album art handling over Bluetooth. i.e. it looks completely random as to whether art gets displayed or not. In a couple of cases it displays art that I don't even have on my phone!

This I've seen on my car. Bluetooth on both cars that I've used it on, (the other being a 2017 Mazda 3) are a bit dicey on getting the album artwork to show. Same with music on a USB drive. If it doesn't have the album artwork, it will often try to fill in with artwork from its Gracenote database. This may be a publicity shot of the artist or band, or in some cases just a generic icon for the genre of music it thinks the artist is.

Less than wonderful, but sort of expected at this point. I keep hoping something will get better.

 

All my music is correctly tagged so there's no reason for the system to go looking elsewhere.

I'm actually wondering if it's looking at the music source at all, and is in fact, getting all the artwork from gracenote. I intend to conduct a test where I switch the album art that is displayed between two different artists and then see if it correctly displays the artwork still. If it does, then I'm buggered, it will be the case that gracenote is the source irrespective of what's embedded in the flac\mp3 file.
