A238 Lug Bolt

Hi guys, I'm hitting something new. Working on Service B for my 2018 A238 for the first time. I'm ready to flush the brake fluid, got 3 quarts of 331.0 in yesterday. Unfortunately, when I went to remove a wheel to do inspection and get at the fluid valve in the back, I found this oddity. The lug nuts are so close to the rim there's no way to get a normal lug wrench or socket around the lug. I checked with a 17mm spark plug socket but it's way too small. Anyone know if there's a special tool I should have to remove my wheels? When I look in the spare tire area of the trunk it's empty except the cargo net and what I think is a towing bolt. These are beautiful 19" rims...but I'm stuck. Spent about 30 minutes googling and searching this forum but not feeling any closer. Thanks for any suggestions you have!

-G

Those look like aftermarket caps and should be thrown away IMO. Underneath those should be the real lug bolts which are black. I hope you can get them off w/o damaging the rim. Try needle nose pliers maybe? Here's my 2018 wheels.

Nailed it. They came off with pliers, no damage to the wheel. I'll need to decide whether to put them back on or not...I kinda like the chrome caps but need to see the full side with off vs on in the daylight. Thanks for the tip!
