Internet, Wifi and System Updates

Sorry if this is covered, I did do a search (possibly poorly) and didn't see this clearly addressed.

I am a repeat used MB owner and just picked up my latest yesterday (see signature). Am I to understand that, unlike my Ford and Chevy experiences, the MB line does not have a way to connect to my local WiFi network for system updates? Your only path is to buy an MB data package or have a dealer do it? I'm thinking I'm just overlooking something as a new owner, right?

Right which again is data package in the car and further reaffirms that there's no way of simply having your car connect to your local Wi-Fi network like every other manufacturer out there. got it
