Trunk soft close

Hey gang, have an issue with a trunk(boot) not fully closing it leaves a gap of about an inch, seems like the last pull is not happening. No message that it’s open. Has anyone come across similar issue. I’m thinking latch pull down motor, but don’t want to take it apart without a replacement part. 2021 e450 coupe. Thanks.

Might be the same as the pre-facelift: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...t-closing.html

problem solved. It was the the trunk lid lock actuator part# A204 750 0060 which fits lots of models and years with soft close option. Pictures show the location on 2021 E450 coupe, easy access and diy. Thanks.

Was the actuator bad? Is it adjustable? More details would be appreciated for anyone following behind with the same issue.

I did not test it. Read a bunch of posts and ordered the part that I thought was the issue. Changed the part and problem solved. There is a small motor inside the actuator that sometimes goes bad, I think it’s a known issue, my problem happened after visiting dealership for regular maintenance and they might have overloaded the system somehow.

A different solution

Hey guys, thought I’d post my experience with this as I have had this exact problem twice now but both times have fixed it without needing a new part.

As you can see in the photos posted by the OP, it is the actuator which may be the cause of the problem. In my case, the motor itself was working fine however there is a small wire with a ball on the end which is wrapped tight around this part of the motor. When the motor operates, it pulls this wire back which pulls the boot lid down that last inch or so. Well in my case the little wire had just popped off of this bit of plastic and wasn’t being pulled, which has happened twice now and both times I have just hooked the wire back on and it works fine. I have circled the wire in question on the OP’s photo and attached below.

That being said, others may have the problem of the motor itself failing and not pulling the wire at all however I thought I would share this so others can have a look to see if it’s the same problem as I had and may save themselves money on a new part .
