H&R or Eibach lowering springs with stock dampers?
It has the basic steel spring suspension (677) and I'd like to lower it moderately for a better looks and less body roll, but still keep it relatively comfortable for daily driving and roadtrips. Roads here in Finland are nowadays just horrible, also I occasionally drive gravel roads which can be bumpy and jarring when worn.
I know that stock shocks aren't the best option for lowering springs when it comes to handling on a good road, but I've also heard that Bilstein b8 shocks while recommended can be harsh on bumps. What I'm after, is that if the stock (which I think is some sort of a Bilstein B4 with adaptive mechanical damping) might even be a decent option when comfort in mind.
Have you had any experience with such setup? It seems to be pretty common to put just lowering springs and people seem to be happy with them. Because the car is not going to be driven on a track, and the max speeds are also relatively low in traffic (not germany). I'm thinking, if a "real" shocks like B8 would be actually overkill and compromise smoothness over rough asphalt for example..
Also, would you recommend H&R or Eibach springs for something like 30mm lowering? Which one of these are smoother/less harsh? Just because the hard reality is, the roads are bad and the car is not meant to be a race car..
Please don't question why lowering etc. if not into modding cars.
Thanks!
