Hi,
I have a 2021 E450 Coupe. Great car but I've had a problem with the dashcam, which was an "added" option at purchase since day 1 and of course, when it's in for service they can never find it.

When I start the car, and go to start recording, often the Dashcam app doesn't appear in the "apps" folder. I unplug the USB drive go out of the menu, come back in a viola! It's there.
No problem.

Just as I put it in drive, I hit "start recording" and it starts - message comes up "recording started".....
After a few minutes, "recording cancelled" without me doing anything.

The software is set to Loop recording, I have tried multiple different USB drives, different SUB-C ports, even bought a cable so the USB isn't directly connected to the USB-C, but extended. Always the same.
Records for a few minutes, then stops. Always. Often I can't even hit "start recording" because it looks as though there is no drive connected.

It's almost as though the system forgets the drive.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Similar experiences or known fix?

I lose the dash cam every time that I just look at the USB connection on my EQS, the E53 doesn’t have a dash cam. I have to wiggle the plug and it comes back after a few trys.

 

Have you tried a High Endurance SD card? They are required. A regular SD card or USB drive won't cut it. There is a thread with more details in the GLE or GLS Section.
