1981 300D Gerling Bendix ATE?

I am working on a friends 1981 300D, automatic. I am not a MB aficionado, so I apologize upfront for any glaring idiocy I might present. I am going to put new rotors, pads, calipers and bearings on his car, all the way around. There are three different types of calipers/pads available, Bendix, Gerling, and ATE. Short of crawling under the car and looking ( I would, but the car is not here right now, Im trying to order the parts in advance) is there anyway to know which brakes are on the car, or does it even matter which ones I get, so long as I buy everything consistently? Is one better, or one more common?

hmmm

Well I'm far from ebing an expert, but I guess you could say it does with which brakes you get. Like I had a 86 300E for a year and 4 months, never had to change the brakes once. My friend on the other hand not sure which brand it was ended up changing his brakes 3 times in one year...I really wanted to know which brakes mine were but I sold it and never found out. If you buy everything consistently it should be cool.. uhh for which one is better I have no idea if you google them though you might get some good info like customer reviews or something. Good luck, hope I helped some!

If you are changing the calipers as well it doesn't make any difference as long as you get the securing pins for the calipers you get.
But if you only change the pads and rotors you may have to change the securing pins, then you will need to know which calipers is on the car, the only way to tell is looking at the calipers, the easiest way is to look at the securing pins, for the Bendix it is two pins and some bend wire. For the Ate/Teves it is a cross of sheet metal also with two pins of cause.
I am not sure how the Girling is.
The Ate/Teves:

If the calipers isn't to rusty you could resuse the securing pins and only buy pads and rotors which is the same for all three brands.

The repair kit for the calipers is of cause also different for the different brands.
