Glow plug light stays on
Even after I start my 82 240d the glow plug light stays on (is on all the time the key is in the 'run' position), is there some type of timer or relay that is supposed to turn them off?

Also, my turn signals are not working. the switch seems to click, no lights at all when I use them-dash or otherwise, where should I start with the diagnosis?

I am a little new to diesels and ams starting to like this car

Get a multi-meter and go to dieselgiant.com and follow the W123 GP tutorial to test your GP's and relay.
