76 w115 300D Starting Problems (Slow-No Crank)
I let my old 300d sit for about a month. It has been fairly cold here, it warmed up enough to play with it. When I went to go crank it , it started cranking fine(Fast). After about 2-or 3 revolutions, the starter motor dies down. It acts like a dead batttery, or starter.
I have gone through it, replaced the starter, checked the Batt,& grounds. I still have the same problem. It is getting plenty of power to the starter. It will turn over 2 or 3 times then 1 then just barley spin the engine.....
I have thought about this for a little while. Is it possible that the injectors leaked down while it sat? Then they filled up the cylinders with fuel? Making it almost impossible to crank-because of the excess fuel?
I yanked off the air cleaner hose- I notice after cranking that diesel vapor/smoke comes out........Is that normal?
Any body have a guess?
Thanks

If you believe there is something in the Cylinders keeping the Enginge from Cranking remove the Glow Plugs or Injectors and crank the Engine by hand and see if it hangs up somewhere during hand the Cranking.
If that is OK try cranking it with the Starter and observe what happens. If there is something in the Cylinders some of it may blow out of the Glow Plug or Injector Hole (whichever one you removed).
Have you taken the Battery to a parts place that does free load testing on the Battery?

Hi, the battery is good. I just bought it new, after this problem arrose.....
I'll give that a try by hand(cranking). I'll just try it on the #1 cylinder first, then go from there.
Thanks

It just warmed back up here in VA. I took out all of the glow plugs, and gave it a crank......IT SPUN OVER. I was shocked,it didn't really spit out much fuel. So I put them back in. After cranking it a little while it started, with a large black goey mist out the exhaust. It stuck to the grass.... After running a while the black fog calmed down.
I ran 2 cans a Diesel purge through it. Starts with the bump of the key, just awesome. even better yet-no smoke....
The diesel purge is kinda expensive online. I found a much cheaper source.
Advance Auto Parts. $7.00 500ML
The have no listing for it, but on the website they have it ,just not availible. They do not stock it at all . So if any one every needs a can.
Just give them the part number
Part No. 2005
They will be able to order it.
Thanks for the help.
