Trouble finding a new radiator for a 1983 300D (no turbo)

My 1983 300D (316 000 miles) has a leaking radiator.

My mechanic and I were not expecting this kind of trouble to get a replacement.

This is a German Mercedes, a gray market car, 5 cylinder diesel engine, no turbo.

A third party radiator company couldn't find a fitting radiatior.

Refurbishing would not work, as the refurb company couldn't find the top part (the tank) that would fit.

The only alternative would be ordering from Mercedes ($420 and a long wait).

Are there any other ways to get a radiator except a new Mercedes part?

Nobody knows a source for aftermarket radiators?

Looks like I'm going to have to buy the expensive Mercedes original.

I found replacement radiators from Behr and Nissens. Now it's the question how to get my OEM part number.
