W123 300TD Wagon?

Hey guys, Im really new to the whole diesel mercedes game, but I want to get a 300td and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I found an 83 300TD Wagon. Here is what the post says, " i have a few cars that i need to let go..the fist is my 83 Benz wagon 300TD , the way it sits i would sell it for 2,500$ obo i need to put a new ignition key in, water pump, and i bought the original rear shocks from the dealer. if you want me to install the parts i'll take 3,000$ so far i put inner/outer tie rods, upper/lower ball joints, radiator, turbo, alternator, drive belts, front/rear rotors/pads, rear lower control (has independent suspension) diesel fuel filters every 3 months, diesel injector lines, valve cover gasket, timing set."

So with your help as far as what I need to look for when I go check it out, or from what was said, is it worth the money? I can replace those things he discusses no problem. From what the pictures show, it looks very nice, no rust (which I do know is an issue with those bodies). I've read as many posts about what to look for as I can find, with regards to inspecting the vehicle, I just want to know if the car is worth the 2.5 or 3k to purchase it. Thanks for the input guys.

If the car is really a nice as the description says go for it. It is a really neat car. The rear self leveling shocks alone worth $600. I just got a wagon a few months ago ( I needed like hump on my back) and I already in love with it. I also have a 68' fantail which I just got done, but the wagon is a complete different ball game. I say go get it and good luck.

1982 300 TDT
Exclamation 300 TDT for sale in Salt Lake City UT

Hello forum! I just took an 82 300 TDT in on trade for a debt and really don't need it. It has been in the same family for the last 10 yrs. It runs great, but has a few issues.

The lower doors and tailgate are rusted, but the floors/rockers are in great shape. The HVAC blower only comes on once in a while. It has 301k miles on it, but DOES NOT SMOKE and fires up with no PUFF.

The rear tires are dead. I'd put new rubber on it and align it. Point it across the country and enjoy the ride!

The sunroof works great and still seals. All the windows work fine. There is no 3rd seat though they are readily available.

It would be a great greasecar candidate. Someone with the room to do a little body work could make a killing on this car! I'd sell it for $2650 and it it currently on ebay.

Call me if you're serious about purchasing.

BTW, I have a clear title in hand!
