Looking @ 1982 300D
Hello,
Having been recently introduced into the Mercedes world, I am now going to look at a 1982 300D Turbo diesel tomorrow to see if its something I'm interested in. It has ~170,000 miles and according to the owner (only owner, has been in the family since the mid 80's) it has relatively zero rust and a clean interior/exterior except for some peeling clear coat. The air door locks are a little slow but he says it runs well. I am taking two "experts" with me, but I thought I could get some input on here as well. I really have no experience working on foreign cars, but have been shown some pretty great tutorial "do it yourself" sites and am more than willing to learn. I know this will be a TLC car that will be a hobby in the future. He wants $1000 for it. Any input on what to watch for, if this is a good price etc. would be excellent.
