1981 300CD engine swap?
Hello,
Hope I don't get run out of here by flaming torches and pitchforks. I might soon come into ownership of a 300CD for the purpose of restoration or restomod. ~126,000 miles, so decently low, but in only fair condition. My understanding is that these cars are quite low on power. I would also like it to be a manual car while it currently has a 4 speed auto.
What would the prospect be for an engine/tranny swap, say a Honda J series w/6MT? Are the dimensions too large? Would it screw up various components? Would there be any prospect of selling the otherwise good Merc engine? Does anyone here have experience with this? Thanks in advance.
