1985 driver boor pull/armrest

Well I have just purchased a 1985 300D with 42K original miles, 1 owner, always garaged. The car is being shipped and will arrive in the next few days.

I just noticed something about the pictures that does not make sense to me. The driver side door has the longer style door pull, the same as the other 3 doors. The short armrest/pull is not there. I guess I am asking the question to determine if this was replaced and perhaps indicative of another problem. Or could this have come from the factory? It certainly looks original.

Thanks,
Mike

Looking at the W123 both types were used .Small and large grab handles or arm rests .Check yourself go to google search page then look up to the right on the serch page you will see images, now click on it then put what you want to see in the search box.

Great-I did find photos of both, thanks! Very odd to me that across years within body styles that they would vary the door pull. My guess is that it must be some other option that determines door pull type?

Looks as if mercedes put the larger armrest in the later cars ..I have had them both W123 and the W124 .And must say i do like the larger out of the two. My w124 are the larger ones .May be the small ones are fitted in the cheaper model that only has the manual roll up, or down windows , and the large armrest fitted to the one with the electric roll up windows ..
