Alright folks, I'm stumped. '83 300 TD wagon. Resealed the SLS valve - 5 o-rings. Taken it apart twice now. Put it back together the same way it came apart. Ride sags in the rear. Plenty of fluid is turning over at reservoir. Ride height was great before the valve tomfoolery / rebuild.
I've never met the German guy in our small town, but he won't return my calls. He's retired.
Who knows these systems?
I tried jumping on the bumper to 'prime' the system, ran the car for a long time and drove around, messed with the control arm on the valve. The shaft is spinning in the valve, so it's not ceased or anything. But I do feel resistance.
SOLVED! You gotta bleed the air out of the system using the bleeder screw on the valve. Bleed until you get no air bubbles. Raise the lever to 'filling' position and lower the lever to 'return flow' position while doing this. Catch fluid and return to reservoir. I had to bleed a couple / few litres until I saw no air bubbles. Thanks for all the help!
