W123 200 Manual Clutch Pedal to floor & Brake light
Hope all is well, ok my w123 (200 m115 manual) brake pad light came on,( I did top up the brake fluid ever so slightly a few weeks before the light came on.)
The brake pad light came on as I was almost home I left it for a few weeks when I went to start her up again the clutch pedal just dropped to the floor.
I checked and there looks to be no leakage from the main reservoir. I am planning to change the brakes, where shall I be checking for any leaks on the slave or master?
Or is it a simple case of changing the brakes and pumping the clutch?
I haven’t checked the level of the main reservoir since as we have had bad weather here.
any suggestions?
Thanks all
1. The Brake Pad Light - indicates that the brake pads have worn down and need to be replaced. Once you get the clutch fixed you can get an estimate from most any garage for a brake job if you don;t intend to do the work yourself.
2. Clutch to Floor - indicates that either the clutch master cylinder, pipe/hose from master to slave cylinder, or clutch slave cylinder has failed. This is a separate system from the brakes. Best thing is to replace or rebuild both clutch master and slave at the same time. Buy a reputable brand.
You didn't adequately identify your vehicle. Exactly what year/model are we talking about here? Some of these parts are hard to get.
