Question wanted: w124

Great forums, I enjoy seeing so many other w124 enthusiasts, but anyway; I have an '88 300e that's been in an accident, the body is shot, but the engine is in great condition, with about 100k miles on it. I was interested in finding a w124 with a blown engine to buy and swap, but I can't find one anywhere. Could anyone direct me to where to go, or possibly have a car for sale. Thanks

you can try calling potomac german auto

http://www.mbpartsonline.com/

they have a bunch of salvaged cars that they part out. Might have a complete car minus the engine. I would think though that your strategy of pulling the engine out of your old car and transplanting to a new one is going to be cost prohibitive. When my W201 was totaled with 110k miles, I thought about the same thing but decided it would end up being a waste of time and money. Sucks but I would look for another used W124, rather than trying to rebuild something.

Jevile...When im looking for hard to find parts/etc, I either do a search by Model, year, and state im looking in first, if this fails i usually call a bone yard and have them do a nation wide search for what im looking for. I, however tend to side with MHORN on this one as a 300e of that vintage is fairly inexpensive price point for ($3-5k) for a decent complete car. I like Ca and Az for old benz hunting on a budget..good luck, TreeGuy

and...if you buy a new (used) car of the same (or close) years, you've got a spare engine/car for parts if anything breaks on the new car
