Sunroof cable housing

My sunroof started acting up. I finally determined the the sunroof cable housing (the portion located between the roof and the headliner) is worn out. Has anybody ever replaced the darn thing?

Are you sure the tube is damaged? I have never done it, but it is a big job. My sunroof cable failed last summer, so I replaced it and all was fine.

Yes, both the tube and the cable were bad. Replacing the cable was piece of cake, but the tube was PITA, took me about 3 hrs for both. I couldn't believe it, but the dealer in the area had both parts in stock.

What happened to the tube? Did the channel on the top get bent?

Yes, the part that runs from the rear end of the sunroof frame toward the sunroof opening has a slot at the top of the tube. It enables the bracket that attatches the end of the cable to the opening mechanism, to slide back an forth. So that slot got too wide at one place, and when I tried to close the sunroof, the cable, instead of pushing the slider forward, buckled out of the channel and coiled between the roof panel and the sunroof frame.
