Gauge Problems

I have a 94 E-320 wagon which has a problem with the oil pressure gauge and oil level light. The engine wiring harness has been replaced but the wire to the oil pressure and oil level are not included in the harness. About 3 months ago after changing the oil the insulation came of these wires and the pressure gauge went to 3 bar as soon as the key is turned on and it does not move. I am sure the gauge wire was grounding out. A few days ago the oil level light came on and stayed on. The oil is full. I changed the three wires which were all bad including the started solinoid(I am amazed the car still started as there insulation was all gone). The car starts fine but the oil level light is still on and pressure gauge still is at full pressure. I assume the bad wiring damaged either the senders or the gauge. I am hoping for the senders. Is there an easy way to check these or any other ideas.

Might be the Oil sending unit. Had the same symptoms a few weeks ago. When you change that part, you'll need to drain the oil, so schedule it during your oil change.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Yep. Not a bad fix.

Bout a half hour labor and I think around 75 for the sending unit for M 104.
