Question E320 Cooling Question

Hello all. I have a 94 E320 w/55k miles. In city driving, temp in the 60's & 70's, temp gauge will go to the 3rd mark (100 degrees, I believe) The only time it goes above this is when parked, when I restart the car, it goes halfway between the 100 degrees and the red mark, but immed cools down.On the freeway its between the 80-100. Does this sound normal? The car just had a new radiator and thermostat as the temp, upon standing in traffic, would go to 100 & the aux cooling fans would kick on. I'm a new poster, so sorry for the length of this post. Your advice/experiences is much appreciated. Gary

sounds fiarly normal to me.

Mine usually hovers at just above 80 during most driving, and can get up to 100 in hot weather while sitting in traffic.

So the range sounds normal to me.

Any car will spike in temp. when you park after running at normal temp. Since the engine is still hot, but no water is circulating to aid cooling. As long as you are around 80C on highway and between 80-100 in city I think you are o.k., but you can always buy a lower thermostat.
