Stereo problem

I have a 1993 300E 2.8 with the original stereo equipment.

I have problem with sporatic static on the fm side of the stereo. When the stations are changed, there's static. And, there are sporatic bursts of static when an fm station is on. Is this a problem with the antenna, the amplifier, or the in-dash stereo unit? Any one else experiencing the same problems?

Thanks.

The fader control in the center console dash may be loose. Sometimes when you adjust this control it causes static.

If the fader is the problem you can take it out and blow it out real good with compressed air. That may help by removing dirt and the like that get in it and interferes with the contacts.

Radio Shack sells a contact cleaner just for radio knobs and electronics.
