Interior door handle

The driver's side interior door handle on a 89 300TE has come loose. I am trying to find a way to reattach it. I think I might be able to get something to work by taking off the door panel and reattaching if from behind. Is there anyway to take it off? I have gotten about half the door panel off but around the ashtray and puddle lights and near the door jam and window the panel does not want to come loose. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

oohhhh then that's reallly simple all you have to do is take the cover off and then take off the bolt for the arm rest and remove the seat control switches (kinda tricky) and the door handle is held by a clip and you should be able to figure it out from there! Also DO NOT PULL ON YOUR DOOR PANELS the clips in the back will brake! Push up and also take off the trim on side mirrors so you can take the door panel off.

I jsut did this last weekend....

despite my best intentions..... the plastic hooks separated from the inside door panel....

when I was finished changing out my door check, I just popped the panel back on from the top, and re-glued the plastic hooks to the door panel when they were set in place..

then I just shut the door, and let the glue set for 24 hours....

Is there something holding the door panel on near the ashtray in the door? I have removed most of the door panel, but the lower right corner does not want to come loose. I am lifting straight up on the panel (so much so that the rest of the car is moving up as well!) but the panel will not seperate near either the window, not the ashtray. Thanks again for everyones help!

Did you remove the ashtray? Open it and pry up on the tab for the inner part, to remove it.

Thanks guys. I managed to get it off just fine with all of your help. Anyone know where I can pick up a replacement rear door handle? Or does anyone have a part number? Thanks.
