Anyone try this? DIY lowering w/o spring compressor

I was browsing around some websites and came across this....a write up for DIY lowering w/o using a spring compressor for the front. Guys from the C-class and newer E-class have been using this write up to save $$$$ on lowering their cars and changing springs.

I think this write up would especially be helpful for those who have to change their spring pads multiple times to get that "perfect" look. No more paying hundreds of dollars just to change the spring pads.

Anyway here's the link. Has anyone tried this (lowering your car yourself)? I've done multiple honda's before, but never a Mercedes.

The rear springs are possible this way but if you try it on the fronts you might need one of these....

PS The fact that he did it whilst wearing flip-flops tells you something about his attitude to safety

cap'n jasper that was a funny response. I didn't even realize the guy was wearing "flip flops". That cracks me up.

Anyway, I also wouldn't do the front w/o the spring compressor...too risky. I like having all of my fingers (and other body parts) fully functional.

There was also a discussion on that other forum about camber and castor adjustment. Most had neg camber in the front even with those "camber adjustment bolts".

I know the rears can be adjusted w/the KMAC or speedybenz arms. What are your guys experinence/opinion about these?

That's the attitude of the cheap rice rocket tuner. If he cut corners to intall them just think how how low quality his parts are. You can rent a compressor at most local auto parts store for about 10 bucks for 3 days (Kragen does that). Sometimes they won't even charge you if you bring it back within the same day. Just make sure you have some money for the tool deposit which is usually the cost of the tool itself but they give it back once you return it w/ in the alotted time.
