No Reverse!!

This is on a 95 E320 wagon. I shift into reverse and get nothing. Press the gas and the engine revs just like neutral. There may be some minor noise but nothing signficant. Sometimes it well sort of catch so I have my foot on the brake to avoid hitting something. Drive works just fine as does park. I spoke with my mechanic yesterday and at least the car still did it. He was going to look a couple of things up. Any good ideas would be greatly appreciated. Todd is a good mechanic and used to work at the dealership. I want to avoid going to the dealership since I caught them charging for work they did not do and Todd generally does a good job.

Of course, this is intermitant, but is now happens more often.

do a search here and on other forums about the B2 piston problem. that might be your problem although if yours is a 95 model its highly unlikely as they had already updated the faulty part.
