Roof Light problrm
Since few days the front roof light and seat belt warning light stopped working with either driver or the front passenger door but it works fine with the buttons attached to it.
the door opening switch looks fine too beacuse when i open any of the front door, the light attached to the bottom of the door lights up.
the rear roof light works with the rear door opening.
my car is a w124 230e 1989.

Hey shams, I am having the same problem right now and so far I think the problem lies with a faulty relay which I think is located under the front kick panel on the right hand side of the car. My car is RHD so it may be on the other side if yours is LHD. If you open the door and push the switch in on the door frame on the car you should hear a clicking noise. I would say that this is the relay and it is buggered. I would be interested to see if anyone else has had this problem and where the pesky relay lies

If the seatbelt warning relay is bad, it only affects dome light operation with respect to the driver side door. The problem you're experiencing is actually quite common and it's due to shorted out circuitry in the dome light itself.

I had a similar problem before. It turned out to be a bad fuse. Open the fuse panel under the hood and carefully inspecy EVERY fuse. Sometime they get tiny hairline cracks and it throws everything off balance. BTW, the fuse that was cracked on my car had nothing to do with the dome light or the seatbelt, but as soon as I replaced it everything worked fine.
