simple.. mirror switch

hey guys,
quick one.. how do you replace the mirror switch on the W124?
i am aware that you got to lift the wood but that's all i know

oh just another one,
last week my car went in to change the shifter bushings (Auto). the mechanic told me he replaced 2 of the bushings but now when i engage the 2nd gear, it would not shift to 2nd... it would only run on 1st gear instead of 1st and 2nd gear.. anyone know what problem that is?

thanks!
Jeff

Yes, lift up the wood console after you take out the screw at the back end of it; it then hinges upward to the dash....all the switch plugs will pop off ...don't really need to take the wood all the way off either; just snap out the mirror unit, replace with new one, re-plug everything and let wood back down...easy.

So, the car is stuck in first gear now? Does this mechanic know MB trannys? They are adjustable for shift points and it should start in 2nd gear (in D) .

I like the color of your W124...what's that called?

Thanks Jim for the reply. I will try to change the mirror switch on Monday.
Regarding the gearbox, it runs fine in all gears except when you put it in 2.. In D, it runs with all 4 gears and in 3, it runs in 3... but in 2, it ONLY runs on the first gear and won't shift (not even near to the redline )

And about the colour of my car, I really cannot tell you for certain.. I have no idea what the name of the colour is but I guess it is quite special for the W124

Cheers,
Jeff

How are you adjusting your mirror then?
By hand?
I did it once, and the driver next to me saw me do that, and he laughed at me
