Side note: Porterfield has R4-S pads for this application, but they're $195... fits both the R129 and C32 Brembos.

1995 E500 likely the only one in USA with my exact interior, interior is 1/2 cloth half leather in my pattern....Car is ALmandine and I don't know if that if factory correct i remember reading something that all 95 were available in only 3 or 4 colors and Almandine was not one....Now it sports C32 brakes
Most of by buddies have Euro cars, every time we goto germany the hunt is one for someone else....Next year we are looking for a E36 Cabriolet will be interesting..
C32 Rear brakes are nothing special....Unless you are going 300+ WHP i don't think you need much help apart from the front as all the cars I have done still had very even and stable braking with same dive if any of a factory car....
Good luck with the install....should be straight bolt on for your V8 car...get stainless lines to really take advantage, and Ate blue dot 4 fluid helps quite a bit, I have not tried and of the performance pads but my next set will be just so I know what if any help they make...

Anyone have some suggests on some performance brake pads?
I absolutely HATE the OEM brake pads and the horrible brake dust.

BTW, which pads do you not like, and for what application? You mean E420 OE/dealer pads, or OEM/aftermarket stuff?

Those Porsche 8 piston might look good on my cab with c32 fronts in the rear.....when your crazy you have no boundaries, you are more than used to everyone telling you how stupid your ideas are...
Stupid, no. Crazy, yes.
Scott Shell of 500E.com fame did the Porsche brakes on his E500, I believe. It can be done but it's a LOT of custom work. I like factory-engineered, simple bolt-ons since I don't have access to a machine shop, and I can't afford endless swapping to get the right combination. That's why I like the late R129 setup.

ExplorePorterfield pads are carbon-Kevlar.
The R4-S compound for the E320/E420 W124 (294, 295, 300, and 320mm front brakes all use the same pad) are $129/set.
The R4-S pad for the C32 or R129 Brembos are $195/set.
The rears are cheaper, $79 for 278mm rears, $119 for 300mm rears.

Yep - I did warn you about the price. But, so far, I think they're worth it. They seem to wear very, very well; which helps offset the cost. And they're not hard on rotors either.
One interesting thing, every previous brake job I've done with new OE/OEM pads AND new rotors, the first few stops felt like the pads were oiled wood - almost no braking action. After they bed in, drive around the block or something, they're OK. The R4-S pads (with new rotors) have been the only thing I've ever experienced where the very first time I touched the brakes, backing out of the shop, felt like normal, fully bedded brakes with normal stopping power. Maybe it's just be, I dunno, but I was impressed. I'm putting 500E brakes on my diesel next month and I have new R4-S pads (with OE/dealer "gray coated" rotors), so I'm curious to see if my previous experience is repeated. The bad experiences were with OE/OEM pads (Textar, Jurid, Pagid, etc) on several different cars.

why cant you run r129 lower a arm too? is it different then late w124?
Quote:
1) Swap on R129 knuckles & hubs, this pushes the rotor (and wheel+tire) further out
2) Swap on the late W124 lower control arms ($$$$ for new ones, alignment required afterwards)
3) Forget the E320 brakes and get the 300x28mm R129/500E brakes instead - these fit without mods, but require 16" wheels. I'm putting these on my diesel within the next month, with the matching 500E rear brakes too.

Depends on the specific model of W124 and R129, but yes, they are different. The SL600 LCA is the same as the late W124 for models with 294, 295, or 320mm brakes. If the R129 or W124 has 284mm or 300mm front brakes, it will have the early style LCA.Originally Posted by ruslan98270

You'll need custom 2-piece rotors ($$$$) to make that work, plus some funky hydraulic fittings, and maybe some cutting/grinding. Very much NOT a bolt-on for any 124/129/201, and way way way overkill for any car with under 400hp. But it will look cool when you're done (18" wheels required, btw).Originally Posted by ruslan98270
