Question What radio do I have in my 1995 E320 Special Edition

I don't know if I have a Becker Radio. I have a 1995 E320 Special Edition. It was the last year for the 124. My stereo has the optional trunk-mounted CD and I have speakers in the door that can shake the car. Do I have the "inferior" radio discussed in this forum? It sounds awesome with the CD, but it is true that the radio doesn't sound as good as the CD. I am pleased with the stereo, but I might consider an upgrade if it was truly much better. I have a nice stereo at home and I would like to have great sound in the car. I am curious about new/better speakers and the ability of my present radio to drive them. I also have the phone that plays through the speakers, so I would have to be careful not to mess up the phone. I also like the idea of keeping the stock equipment and look. Then again I did install +1 16" AMG Monoblocks, Eibach springs, Bilstein heavy Duty Shocks, and played with the spring pads. My car handles like crazy on a back road and it is gorgeous in Azure Blue and parchment interior, with stainless steel kick plates on the doorsills.

Yuck, I bet you have the Becker radio. It's just a nuisance to use!

The OEM headunit is made by either Alpine or Becker. I think it's a very nice unit. Simple and easy to use. No funky displays or anything but looks simple and purposeful.

and honestly, I think the whole setup sounds really good. I am not going to bother upgrading anything.

BTW, I believe the special edition E320 did come with the optional Bose sound system.

Whatever it is

You guys revived my old post. I still have the OEM radio, whatever it is. It sounds OK. It certainly isn’t mind blowing sound, but it is OK. Like most stereos that I have heard, it definitely sounds better with CDs, than with the radio.
