minor problems

here are pictures. i think the white clip is broken on the molding and that im missing the intake tube thing for the air filter ( will be putting in k&n filter once it arrive, should be this week ) can take more pictures if you want. oh and to put in the filter, just unscrew like the 4 screws , and unclip all the things around the side? what about that one plastic thing on top in the middle?. tomorrow ill post high def pictures of my engine, to see if im missing anything else. wheres a good place to host the pictures? i think i have an imagebucket account, but dont;' know the max size for a picture. oh and last thing, when i start my car and leave it in park, the engine shakes a bit. does yours ? is that fine? i do feel the car shake a bit when its not moving, thats in all gears, park, neutral, drive. lastly, i hear a whirring sound. i think its the belt. need replacement? ill post pics tomorrow. thanks in advance.

You should fit the hose to your air cleaner housing so the engine intakes cool air as designed. Still available parts.

The four nuts and the clips are the key to getting the air cleaner top off. The big hose to valve cover is just pulled off.

When you install a K&N you will no longer have clean air entering your engine. You'll not notice any performance change, either ... that is until the engine wear from intaking dirt sets in.

Freddie, are you talking about the lower body panels like I have on my car?

I felt a difference with the K&N when I put it in my car.

yes, exactly like the ones you have. I think they have been updated on post 90 cars. ideas? will i still be able to use the same clips? or what else will i need?. and no difference felt yet... but then again i only drove like a total of 2 miles on highway only at 60, traffic :\. when you put your k&n filter, was it snug with the metal inner part? just to make sure it was the right one.

Yes, the K&N filter fits tight inside of the intake housing.

Benard (CaliE320) updated his car with the lower panels. You should ask him. When do you it...are you going to color match it to your car or bumpers?

im thinking if i do it, i might as well color match it, but then i would have to paint the bumpers, mirrors, trim on top and on rear window.

another problem! NO!!

im starting to smell gas... i stop driving and open up the engine, i hear a little bit of leaking. can't be good... im not sure what is what in there so im thinking of taking the car to jerry next week. does he do work on sundays?

Damn lnkprk your getting paranoid like me when i had my first 300e. If you hear like water dripping then it's your enigne when you turn it off you know the oil going down and the other liquid in your car. If it was fuel it wouldn't even make a sound. I also think your car is running too rich that's why it's soo hard to accelerate it. I setup my benz like yours so it could run smoother and it did but i couldn't stand it not having power. I adjusted it to be a little leaner and adjusted the throttle cable and now it's way faster!

K&N are notorious for inadequate filtering.

There is no performance gain ever, either.

he's full of bs. Yes they let in more dust but it's just burned in the combustion chamber and comes out of the exhaust. Also u do get more hp because it's getting more air in the engine. if an engine dosen't have enough air or a clogged air filter it burns more fuel.

well the problem in that chart is that your using a k&n on a stock intake housing if it's for a mercedes. I have a 69 mustang and the k&N makes a lot of difference. I'm also going change to an intake tube so that will increase the air flow.

oh nevermind the chart is for an 85 bmw k100 BIKE!!! how can you compare the difference on a bike and a car.

hahahaha.

I hate it when new people come to the forums and act like they know everything. It's probably the biggest pet peeve of mine.

That link you gave us still doesn't prove your statement about K&N Filters and K&N Filters on a Mercedes at all. So tell me, do you have any experience with their filters? Also, reading from sources isn't a valid experience. So that doesn't count.

Read your statement again and don't reply until you have a accurate VALID response.
