I am just gonna take a stab here, but can one even Manually change the timing? Other than advancing the cam itself. I mean isn't it controlled by the ecu, and any resistor that might be installed. There should be some markings on the crank pulley for TDC & a reference mark on the timing cover.
Other than that I have no clue
Maybe someone knows for sure and will chime in.

Ok, Cool! Thanks for the info. The thing that got me worried was the sticker indicating that the timing must be set at 9 degrees BTDC. I was like "Aww $H1T!." So now I'm gonna go forward w/ my ignition tune up to prepare for smog.
