changing of the hood hinge

Can anyone tell me if they ever changed the hood hinge on this particular model? Does it require the fender to be removed?

Lightbulb Hood hinge....

Well, if this is what you mean when you say "Hood hinge" then good. If it wasn't then just forget about it.

When you pop the hood of a w124 a little lever comes shooting out of the hood. You need to pull this lever and lift the hood using another hand.

A few times this little piece that comes out of the hood breaks. If it does grab a coat hanger, make a little hook at the end of it and grab the hood release lever. You will have to do this by sticking the hanger through one of those tiny holes in the hood. The lever kind of fades in with the grill, so when it is broken or removed there should be a little hole in the grill. When you stick the hanger in to pull on the metal part of the lever (can be tricky) you need to make sure you are holding onto it and you need to pull pretty hard while lifting up the hood. Then go get a new lever from your dealer. Do it fast, its terrible using a hanger

I hope this is what you were talking about! Good luck!

Talking Nope

I meant the actual hinge that holds up the hood once the hood is opened...

Thanks for the reply though

Oh, like I thought...

I had a feeling that you weren't talking about that, he he... well whatever. Regarding THOSE hinges, hm hm, I have no idea. I must say I do like the way they are designed...

When you pop up the hood it goes up the normal way, but when you disengage the lock on the passenger side and then on the drivers side (or maybe other way around) it goes totally vertical, thats the only car I see that does that! It's sweeeet! and then to push it down, just undue lock on drivers side, thats it! Sweeet again!

Sorry I couldn't help though rich , good luck!
