Question E420 Warning lts. question - Please comment

Ok, I just replaced my engine wiring harness because while the dealer mechanics couldn't figure it out, some of your posts made me check it out. Yup, cracked beyond hope. Now then, what led me to this was all of the dash warnings lighting up. I mean everything from fuel level to tire chain indicator. I knew it was (is) a short because the oil level lamp seemed to share it's voltage issue.

Now that I've replaced the harness ($660) and it runs beautifully, what about all of those lights? Will they re-set? Or do they tell me there is still an issue? Can I 0-out the codes or must it be done at the shop? I'm cautious about driving it anywhere till I know.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

try to put the key in the ignition turn it to the on spot but do not start, pump the gas 3 times to the floor and hold on the last time, that should do it.

Thank you

I'll give it a try. And you did mean pump 3X in on position, then turn key off before starting?

with key on pump 3 times and hold on the last until you see the light change. then do what you wish, start or go inside... if this wont fix, call a service center and ask over the phone so they wont charge you...

do this with the key barely on, like where the lights come on but dont let the air come one. the first notch on the turn to start, leave it there then do as above.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for say 30 min?

Still no cigar

I did try the 3x gas pedal ritual, makes me feel like a video game cheat - no luck. Also the battery was disconnected the hour or so that it took to install the new harness.
The good news is that the oil pressure sender works correctly now whereas it did trigger the lights before. This is why I wondered if the lights were not part of the computer memory now, needing to be "turned off"
