Yes they will fit, I'm running 225/45-17's on lowered suspension. :p 
they should work. the wagone has the self leveling rear suspension right?
Just make sure the wheels are either
17x7.5 with an offset of 37mm
17x7.5 with an offset of 35mm
or if you want more agressive, you can tro to find:
17x7.5 with a 30 mm offset.
35mm on a 7.5" rim is perfect for a w124.

My goal is to find a good price on some 17" AMG monoblocks or any other AMG style wheel...if you know anyone out there....let me know.

I have got 225/45/17 on mine also, lowered, they fit good.
unless u have staggerd rear wheels then u have to roll your quarter panels.

They will fit but will exaggerate the gap between the body and the wheel.
