Any differences between early and later engines?
I have one from a 1985 that I'm selling and want to tell buyers which years it interchanges. I would guess smog and ancillary equipment have changed but the basic engine should be identical. Anyone know for sure?
It was a grey market car imported by AMG West in Oakland. I couldn't find any markings to indicate the engine was modified so it's likely "stock" and it apparently passed CA smog before the car was wrecked.

early engines were 3 liter in line sixes, SOHC, two valves per cylinder
late engines were 3.2 liter in line sixes, DOHC,4 valves per cylinder.
before you say you knew that, you didnt mention how late. perhaps a more succint question.
