Is early '85-90 power steering different than 91-94?

Question Is early '85-90 power steering different than 91-94?
I drive an '87 with 157k and when I drive my wifes '91 I notice the steering is more responsive. Is it just wear or were there improved gear ratios in later years?

I also notice a different acceleration response. Mine comes on later and hers is earlier. Mine has a 3.6L and her's is standard 3.0L. It seems the throttle is harder on mine.
