For the U.S. Market, it was with the 1990 300CE (24-valve)

The 300E sedan didn't get the 24-valve motor until the 1993 model year, in the U.S.

32 valve V8s started with the M119 (1992) in the W124 500E and 400E (U.S. versions).

In the 124 chassis? I think it was 1990 with the M104 I6 and the M119 V8.

190E 2.3-16 was a multi-valve motor. AMG's Hammer was introduced in the 80's and multi-valve motors were also tuned by AMG in the M102 4-cylinder and even as far back as the 5.0 M117 V8s on the W107 chassis!

Here's a description of a 1981 W123 chassis 4-door with that 5.0, 4-valve engine installed:

280E 5,0-AMG (4V), Bj. 1981, AMG-5,0Liter Motor m117, AMG-Fahrwerk, AMG-Sportauspuffanlage, AMG Felgen 8x16 vo. + 9x16 hi, 4-Gang Schalter, AMG-Bremsanlage, AMG-Silberpfeil Lenkrad, 1xRecaro Fahrersitz in original Velour.

Bottom line, Mercedes-Benz offered production cars with 4-valve technology in the mid-80s, with the 190E 2.3-16.

AMG tuned cars even earlier with monster multi-valve V8s

Now I thought Cosworth built the motor in the 16v 2.3 and 2.5L 190E? Which body was the M102 4 cyl motor in?

cosworth did the cylinder head. the rest of the engine was still basically an M102.
M102s could be found in 123, 124, 201, 460 bodystyles. im not sure if the vans used them, i believe so.

You would be wrong since Buggatti beat all of them by over a half century!
