The pipe between the center muffler and rear muffler has some rusted holes on the top of the pipe. Can it be repaired by having someone weld a patch over the holes? A photo althought not to good is below.
The vehicle is a 1992 300 TE with 133K miles.

I really hate to replace it since the muffler is in fine shape. I have another 300, it's a 1992 300E with 126K miles on it and it has rust developing in the same area. I think a water drain must be located about this pipe which allows water to drip down on the pipe and rust over time.

I did a patch job on my oil pan with some jb weld and stainless steel plate 2 years now NO LEAKS!! I think some people don't do it right because they don't let the materials cure and want a quik and fast job... Oh and i use a lot of jb weld on both and let me cure for 1 hour then put them toghether put some duct pate on it and let it sit for 3 days..

It can be patched. No need to spend 200 to 300 for what 60 bucks at the most can fix. You can try the less expensive patch kits they sell at the auto parts store or bring it to a welder or muffler shop for a patch weld.
