300Te 4Matic help

I have a 1990 300TE 4Matic Wagon and the 4Matic malfunction light keeps going on and off. When it is on, I do not have 4 wheel drive. The dealer suggested I check the fluid level but I don't possess the owners manual and all of the caps are written in German. Does anyone know where to find the reservoir or have any other ideas about what the problem might be?

The Reservoir Is On The Drivers Side Behind The Headlight, there Is A Dipstick In It. Also Look At The Level Through The Resevoir. These 4 -matic Are Nightmares, If The Level Is Low You'll Need To Get Under The Car And Remove The 3 8mm Headed Screws At The Back Of The Transfer Case. Remove The Fill Plug, If Fluid Comes Out The Transfer Case Has An Internal Leak. They Hold About .7 Atf. The Excess Fluid Is From Hyd. Fluid Leaking From A Seal Internally. If Fluid Level Is Ok Then You Will Need A Impulse Counter To Get Codes From The System. You Can Only Get Codes When The 4-matic Light Is Illuminated And The Car Is Running.these Cars Can Get Really Exspensive, T/c Around $`3k,accumulator And Pump About 2k Plus Labor.hope This Helps.
