400E questions

I've just been handed down a 400E because my dear old Volvo 850 was totaled by my insurance company. I have a couple questions about the car?

1. I am getting this creaking sound comming from the front left area of the car. It seems to make noise when i brake to a stop, accelerate and transfer weight onto the front left tires. Any clue to what the problem is??

2. My drivers side door look doesn't lock when I push it down from the inside. The knob goes down into the locked position, but the door can be opened from the outside.

3. Where is the external amp for the stereo located. I am going to be installing a new stereo and speakers, so i want to remove it and save some weight. Will probably need some additional help with installation later.

4. Is there any way to defeat the ASR without buying an expensive switch. I hear that you can disable the ABS sensor, but not sure how to do that.

Thanks for your help guys. This forum is amazing. I really love the 400E. It is so much more nimble and feels much more solid then my old 850.

I can help you with #3. The amplifier (and the tuner) are both located on the right hand side of the trunk. You have to remove the molded carpet to get to them.

Let's see some pictures of your car!

Disconnect the ASR by un-plugging one or both of the large barrel connectors located in the engine bay up by the shock towers...that will do it and lite up the ASR lite in the dash and throw a code...but its no big deal. Pluggin' back in returns it all to normal.

Maybe a bad tie rod in the front on the creak you have(?)
