w124 heads
i know that the early 124s have the SOHC and that the newer ones have a DOHC 24 valve, so my question is are the heads interchangeable?? if so what are some things to look out for? it would suck if i mashed some valves. but i would love the increase in HP

from what i can recall as an apprentice motor mechanic at the mercedes benz agent in a far off place in a long distant time, the bottom ends (short block) are the same with minor differences, especially so with the early 3.0 liter version.
from my recollection the only real differences between the short blocks was something to do with the chain guide or tensioner. and oil squirters under the pistons or something like that. other than that they were fundamentally the same.
that was over ten years ago.
will the heads interchange? i cannot say, although if i had an early 104 head lying around and lots of free time, id give it a shot; based on my recollections.

if it would work i was going to use a stand alone like megasquirt and msd there would need to be alot of electical changes made
no more mechanical fuel pump
