help on tire size

I just got used "Brabus monoblock IV 18" wheels for my 93 400e. It came with 225 40 18 tires. it's almost new, but it looks so thin (it looks like there is 2" between ground and the rims) I am afraid that tire is not tick enough to protect the rims from bad road conditions.

please help me finding best size tire for my 400e using "Brabus monoblock IV 18" rims.

thanks for help

thats the right size for 18s.

if you go up in rim size you lose tire sidewall. and ride comfort.

I was asking about tire size.. with 18" rims.. maybe 235/50YR18 to give more tire sidewall.. to protect the 18" rims. But I am not sure that tire will fit right.

1995-E320 Coupe
40 for 18''
45 for 17''

if you used 235/50/R18 you'll get a VERY BIG WHEELS and it is bad ...

it have the right size now (.../40/R18) , do not worry about the small clearance between the rim and the ground , if you wanna go SPORT

I have to agree with Silvo, you don't buy 18" rims to put 50 series tires on, just doesn't look right. I had a 40 series tire on m 16" rims on a 190 - the ride wasn't the best but I never damaged them while driving over stuff.

I have a 400E with the stock wheels - can you post a pic of your 400E with 18s?

Or if anyone else has put 16s or 17s on with pics please post pics, thanks.
