Time for a checkup
Time for a checkup
Ok , there are a few things wrong with the car right now. When i turn the key ( not to start it, but to like the on position where the radio turns on ) i heard the "light reminder" buzz, but the lights are off and all the doors are closed. I proceed to turn on the car and the sound remains for about 5/10 seconds. This is really embarassing with people in the car.
Next problem, My rear passenger side door rattles. Is the door not sitting in fully? Both rear doors are more difficult to open. Not difficult to the extent where it requires a lot of force, but just a tiny bit more. Could the rubber around the door play a part in this?
Next problem. My ac/heater doesn't initiate when the car has been started. If i turn the key to where the radio is on, the blower turns on, but if i then start the car, it doesn't turn on. It will work slightly at quick speeds but only because i think that the ducts open and hot air comes in.
My antenna was also , what seems to be, bent as it wont' go fully down. I heard that in 91' mercedes put in a better antenna which gets better reception. Can i just replace the old broken one with the new 'updated' one?
There is also that fuel gauge bobbing back and forth thing which apparently many people have. My headrest does not move either, I hear the motor running but it doesn't move. I heard it was the connection from the motor and the headrest is broken... true? In addition, my just gets bad mileage ( 16 in streets and about 20 on the highway ) i don't drive agressively and i always use 91 octane. 02 sensor was replaced about 1000 miles ago. Lastly is the transmission, Rough shifts in between 1-2 and 2-3 and a flare between 3-4. Sometimes there is a flare on 2-3, the warmer it is, the more likely it is a flare. I've read on mercedesshop, that it could be a vacuum leak. How much would it be for an indy to replace all the vacuum hoses/lines?
... my car isn't doing too well :\ I am going to make it a get well soon card, lol

put your seatbelt on to quiet the buzzer.
the door latch might need ajustment
when its cold, the heater only comes on when it can blow a semblence of warm air. in my cars case, first thing in the morning, it will take about a minute before it comes on. if i get somewhere, turn it off, then turn it on again a few minutes alter, the heat comes on right away. its climate control remember, not just a fan.
you can replace the antenna with a newer one.
milage seems about right. check your air pressure, should be soethign dumb like 26 front 29 rear. i use 35 front and rear and i also run a size larger than stock. i get near 30mpg on the freeway, and mines a 260 with a taller final drive than a 300. of course i can drive with a very easy foot and a heavy foot too. reduce unecessary weight from the car
transmission sounds likea vacuum leak.

the buzzer still continues regardless of seat belt being on or not. very odd. Ill Tell jerry to look into the door latch next time i take in the car. but even if i do drive for a long time ( 30+ minutes ) the blower does not initiate. if i would drive home, it won't work, but if i would stop the car, and put key into the third position (not on ) sometimes, the blower would turn on and the ac/heater would work just fine. ac is not that cold but it at least works then. When i take the car in, ill be sure to tell him to replace all the vacuum lines... hopefully it won't be too expensive. any ideas of the cost?
