Mercedes benz 1991 300ce(RIP), now an 89 300ce
slow transmission

i listed this under another thread at an earlier time but decided to give it it's own.

my 300ce takes its time in between shifting into drive or reverse and is a little slow just shifting between gears in drive. does anyone else have this problem?

well, have you??

or ever done the tranny service-filter and fluid changed??

you can't just add sea foam snake oil, fuel injector cleaner/techron and expect your car to properly and correctly fixed.

you have to do the maint when it is scheduled-not 2 years ago.

if you won't listen to what people and your maintenance book tell you and take care of your merc, people will stop wasting their time helping you.

i'm not trying to be an "adam henry", BUT a mercedes is NOT a cheap car to own, it must be serviced.
why do you think some mb's go several hundred thousand miles???
someone pays the price!

if you can't properly service one you shouldn't have one.

a lot of your problems you bring up are because you car just needs to be serviced by a "REAL" mb technician at the stealer or good independent shop.

your car requires premium gas too.

same

...the next thing is that it will not go into reverse.....then the tranny needs to be re-built, unless you decide you don't need reverse. Same thing happened to me. Cost me over $2000. Works great now!!

i hope not. reverse seems to be working fine. the only reason im really curious to see if anyone else has teh problem of the car taking its time shifting into drive or reverse is because i have had a few snow storms recently. i found it nearly impossible to rock the car out of the snow, because by the time id the car would shift into reverse i would have already lost my momentum...same thing with drive. i read this on consumer guides, and was curious to see fi anyone else was experiencing the problem. thanks again

Automatic transmission: The transmission may delay shifting into Drive or Reverse, and may be corrected by installing reformulated Mercedes-Benz transmission fluid.

Having it "changed" is one thing , having it flushed is another. When its "changed" the pan is dropped and the filter changed also. The problem lies in the MOST ( more than half ) of the fluid is still in the torque converter. When the transmission is "flushed" ALL the fluid and deposits are removed and replaced with new on a 1 to 1 basis. There is a HUGE difference between the two procedures.I have this done on all my vehicles every 30k and notice the difference.
