speakers crackling

i bought and installed some new speakers that i got at best buy and circuit city. they are 4' pioneers and 5.25" eclipses. they both sound great, but i noticed that at higher volumes the back speakers start to crackle and short out a lot, but only when the engine is running. when the volume is on the lower side or not started it doesnt short or crackle at all. does anyone know what this could be. by the way, i dont suggest getting installations at best buy, i pulled out the radio to see if i could find a problem, and all i see is electrical tape and unused wiring. thanks in advance

Wow, same car as mine and the same problem.

I installed 4" & 5.25" Pioneers in my coupe several weeks ago. Now, like you, when I have the volume up to any higher level, I get the cracking/poping noises.
I have a Sirrus Sat. set up as well and was beginning to think that was the culprit, but I guess not.

My installtion included soldering and heat shrinking every connection. 90 300CE, White/Gray/Gray 108,000 miles.

Anyone out there with answers or suggestions?

try moving your fader swith while your radio is playing. does it crackle? if so, theres your suspect. the original wiring.

Neanderthal,

Good suggestion. I've rotated the fader knob a few times when the problem is present. However, I'll pull the switch this weekend and clean with electrical contact cleaner. Still running the original Becker unit in mine.

Thanks,

Jayare
