Hydraulic hose...300te...rear suspension

The hose that comes out of the pump...it has these plastic inserts in it...many of them...anyone know what they do? What if they weren't there? What if the hose were the wrong diameter and the pieces "floated" in the hose, rather than a tight fit?

Inserts in the hose? Not sure what you mean. Do you mean clips that go around the hose and kind of hold it in place?

Nope...if you were to cut open the hose from the pump, located in the engine compartment...there are many of these plastic "bullets" inside...about 1" long... I wonder what they do? Possibly reduce the pulses sent out by the pump?

Could you post a photo? Also are you talking about the low pressure return hose, held in place by a clamp or the high pressure hose that has crimped fittings and screws on.

High pressure...no pix...I put it back together with another hose- from another MB...My hose was leaking, big time. However, with the new hose (not NEW- that's $260), there is a very loud whirrring sound as the engine increases rpm. The "new-er" hose's plastic pieces were jammed up in the hose...so no fluid could pass. I will most likely be ordering a brand new hose, but am curious about the function of these plastic inserts, and if the whirring sound could be caused by either the wrong size things / wrong amount...etc. Just curious.

I'd take the hose to a place that makes hydraulic hoses. They might be able to make you one, using your existing fittings or at least tell you what that plastic insert is for.

I've changed the low pressure hoses because they seep with time and I know they have no such inserts.
