A few new modifications...

I was up at Motorwerks again to have a few more items installed on the coupe:

E500 Headlights with PIAA bulbs (considering HID upgade)

Avantegarde grille - very happy with the quality of this; it's a Schatz (German) brand & has a really nice flat gray metallic finish on the horizontal fins - fits perfectly & very sturdy. Not cheap, but worth the extra few $$.

OEM flat hood emblem - still not sure about this. I do like it but I also like the star ornament. Opinions?

I think these modifications have helped to modernize the front end appearance - still looking for the gen II AMG bumper to complete the look.

Motorwerks also had an 11 sec 1/4 mile Kleeman E55 AMG there that has just been finished - this car is incredible...

Very nice. I like the flat hood star, and in combination with the S600 grille and E500 headlights, it really makes that front end look good. The AMG front bumper cover would look incredible, don't stop looking for it!

Man, your car is so gorgeous! i wish my CE looked that clean!!

Question- where can I get a flat badge for the pre-facelift w124? My hood star attaches to the chrome grill surround... Is there a specific MB model number that you recommend for this?

Thanks!

Grille

You car does look great. I am in the process of having mine painted and installing the Gen II front AMG bumper. Will post picks when its done.

Where did you purchase your grille? I have been looking for one and actually ordered two and had to send them back due to build quality. Is it just the insert or the whole grille?

I said it before in another forum... that's one of the nicest CE's I've seen!

yup... same question. Where did you get the grille from?

I bought one from eris-car.de and i hated how flimsy it fit inside the grille frame. The sides of the inserts were not supported, so all the fins were flabby... it was just poorly made. I sold it though.

Thanks again for all the positive comments! The weather here in Michigan has finally taken a turn towards Spring & I've been driving the coupe regularly. The difference in handling, enjoyment, sound etc. is incredible - I recommend the suspension upgrades to all w124 owners who enjoy the curves.

To answer questions about the grille - I bought it through Motorwerks 248.668.6793 - ask for Bill. Again, it wasn't cheap but the quality of construction and finish were well worth the extra money.

Shadowgriffin - thanks alot for the link, but I really want to find an OEM Gen II bumper. I much prefer the shape of the foglamps on the later version & it would be the "correct" piece for my car (not that originality is a primary concern...).

AMG Gen II Front Bumper

Here's a picture of a 1995 E320 coupe with the desired front bumper. Also, I forgot to mention in my last post that the grille is just the insert - not the entire assembly. I believe the manufacturer is Schatz (Germany).
