500E and E500 owners

I have always been a big fan of the 500E or E500. I would like to hear from you regarding your experience with this amazing car. In my opinion this is one of the best MBs!!!

Ich liebe mein 500E

Doubt you'll find a current or previous owner who doesn't/didn't like theirs. Get one.

i love it. if feels like a totally diffrent car from my old E420. its faster then hell, and it feels like a little race car. i could not be happier with it. and im always getting looks from people with p cars and mbz who know about its history.

it feels totally diffrent from my SL too. diffrent torque curve, but, that might be fromt the renntech

500E Signal Rot
Best Mercedes I have owned to date. Does not have the brute force torque of my Corvette, but its no slouch!

Which is the reason I stopped mods on my 300 like lowering or involved stereo, further restoration etc. I really have been thinking about a '94 500E lately...but it was put off by a new house purchase Nov '04 and upgrades to house...I think about it every time I drive the 300 that's for sure. One day i'll crack and just buy the damn thing.

Thanks for all your input!! I really missed the good old days from MB making quality and solid cars. Do most of you have your cars since new?? It's so hard to find a nice one. I am thinking of replacing my 95 E320 with a E500. The only decent site I know is Autotrader, and most of cars are well over
100k miles. I assume all of you have low miles more like a collectible???

Mine is at 59,000 miles, and I am the third owner. Be persistent and keep looking. There are great examples out there.

The two publications I look to find the best cars, cars I refer to as driven by mercedes "pilots", people that are **** about their cars, need I say more? The mercedes club has a publication called THe Star, loaded w/ private ads w/ good variety of cars. The second is the SL Market Newsletter published by John Olson. While driven by the SL market it has a large section of ads. Lots of low mile cars w/ full service histories etc. Typically you get what you pay for. I would never ever buy a mercedes w/ a history of deferred maintainance. Buy a nice car and you'll have a nice car.
I too will own a 500. That is why I probably won't spend to up-grade my 300CE Sportline, heck, w/ Sportline I already have the 500E seats. They are a definite improvement over the standard 300E seats. I just have to close my eyes and dream. Well, not while I'm driving!
