Cooling Issues - D/FW Area

Anyone in the D/FW area, I am having issues with cooling, used to run about 80C, now running close to 90C and sometimes peaks a little higher while idling. Flushed system and replaced with new coolant a few weeks ago, still same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Funny, mine does the same exact thing. But its been doing it since I bought the car 2 years ago.

Perhaps its normal after all?

when I feel like its starting to bother me all I do is turn on the HVAC and it almost instantly brings the temp gauge back towards 80C

try to see if your fans come on when you do this...

It is normal, I freaked out when I first got my 124. I flushed the entire system and even resorted to a lower temperature thermostat which helped somewhat but not significantly. It's natural for these cars to heat up fast, there isn't much you can do. Now I just need my A/C to blow colder!!

Fans do come on when I turn on the HVAC unit, I do have a small leak in the freon, but I keep it filled. I still need to replace the blower motor reulator unit, I have it rigged for now, the piece is a little expensive. I am still worried about the coolant issue though. I was wondering if the water pump could be going out.

Thanks, I was thinking about replacing it, I observed a small crack on the plastic where the fans plug in. I am assuming the sensor is the one located just to the left of the thermostat housing as you look at it. It screws in, right.

Funnily enough... My coolant stays at a rock stable 82c unless I switch the car off when it's boiling hot and start it within 30mins (which the temp will then hop up to 100c but will soon drop)..

I find this really weird... Is this a problem?

The cooling fan is known to fail over time. It has a chamber filled with liquid that drains out over the years due to wear and tear.

When u switch off the car, the fan should only turn a couple of revolutions. If it spins freely or not at all, u need to look at having it fixed or replaced.

Having it fixed, requires taking the fan off and drilling a hole to fill with Toyota 6000 oil. Talk to the Toyota dealer about this. Else install a new fan, actually a better route.
